Thermal Design

Thermal design and heat dissipation analysis for LED lighting

Advanced thermal management that ensures LED longevity and sustained performance

Thermal design is one of the most critical disciplines in LED luminaire engineering. LED performance, colour consistency, and lifespan are directly governed by junction temperature — every 10°C reduction can double the expected service life. Our thermal engineering team uses computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation and empirical testing to design heat sinks and thermal paths that keep LEDs operating within their optimal temperature range.

The thermal design process begins at the concept stage, where heat sink geometry, material selection, and airflow paths are modelled and optimised. We evaluate natural convection, forced convection for high-output fixtures, and conduction paths through the luminaire body. Prototypes undergo thermal imaging and thermocouple validation in our in-house testing laboratory to verify simulation predictions before production release.

Effective thermal management enables our slim-profile designs to deliver high lumen output without compromising reliability. For outdoor luminaires exposed to direct solar radiation and ambient temperatures exceeding 45°C, our thermal designs incorporate additional margin to ensure consistent performance across the harshest deployment environments in India and the Middle East.
